Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner for Staffordshire Sue Arnold urges shoppers to enjoy that Christmas gift without fear of the cyber fraudsters and bullies.
Mrs Arnold said:
“With shops across Staffordshire in the busiest time of year many people will be buying a smart phone, tablet or lap top for their loved ones but we all need to make sure that this special gift doesn’t give fraudsters or bullies the opportunity to ruin the months ahead.
So as part of our Cyber Safe Staffordshire campaign, we have contacted retailers who sell smart phones, tablets or lap tops and offered leaflets, display stands and staff briefing sessions to help make their customers aware of the simple steps that everyone can take to stop becoming a victim. This has been welcomed by the British Retail Consortium (BRC) who encourage their members in the region to support the initiative.
Please look out for the leaflets that can help you avoid becoming a victim of cybercrime so you enjoy that Christmas gift without fear of the cyber fraudsters and bullies or visit www.staffordshire-pcc.gov.uk/cyber-safe-staffordshire/ “
