Staffordshire Commissioner to present update on financial plans

Staffordshire Commissioner for Police, Fire & Rescue and Crime, Ben Adams will present an update on his financial strategy to a meeting of the Police, Fire & Crime Panel on Monday 13 November, which will be broadcast live online from 10am.

The panel regularly meets to give their views on the Staffordshire Commissioner’s plans and decisions, and is an important part of the Office’s commitment to being open and transparent.

At the meeting, Ben Adams will update the panel on the current Medium-Term Financial Strategy including details on potential upcoming challenges for emergency services, current financial performance and the impact of rising inflation.

The Medium-Term Financial Strategy is the Commissioner’s key financial planning document setting out the budget requirement until 2027 and how this requirement will be financed through grants, precept and the use of reserves.

Staffordshire Commissioner Ben Adams said: “My main responsibility as Commissioner is to set the budget for Staffordshire Police and Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service, determining how government funding and local resident’s council taxes are spent.

“In these times of high inflation and pay increases, carefully managing both services finances is more important than ever before. Providing value for money is essential.

“The report I am presenting to the Police, Fire & Crime Panel provides an update on the estimated savings both services need to make over coming years and considers new challenges facing both services as well where extra investment is required.”

People can follow the panel meeting live wherever they are via the web, and it will also be available to view online afterwards.
