Children in Need’s Pudsey visited Staffordshire Police HQ on Thursday 20 November to take receipt of a cheque for the money raised during the force’s fundraising efforts last week.
Chief Constable Jane Sawyers and Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Arnold, who both took part in the event, were on hand to greet Pudsey and to formally hand over the proceeds.
Twenty-seven teams made up of 81 fitness fanatics including officers and staff from Staffordshire Police and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, pushed themselves to the limit on Friday 14 November during the “Let’s Tri for Pudsey” inter-departmental mini triathlon. And it was all in the name of Children in Need.
Chief Constable Jane Sawyers said, “We are thrilled that we have been able to raise so much money for Children in Need, so far collecting £4,273 for the charity.
“Everyone who took part put everything into the challenge, and had incredible support from their family, friends and colleagues.”
Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Arnold added, “It was great to bring to a close such a fantastic, well-supported and fun event. Everyone that went before us really set the standard and put the pressure on us to perform!
“Although our bikes, treadmills and running machines were located at Staffordshire Police headquarters, in real terms, between the 27 teams that took part, we clocked up 348 kilometres taking us two-thirds of the way around the county border, which is amazing. It was a pleasure to be involved for such a worthy cause.”
A homemade cake sale, which took place on the same day, generated £465.57 towards the total, and a chocolate sale in the human resources department also raised £100, which shows that officers and staff at Staffordshire Police, really do have an appetite for this kind of event.
