Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Ellis spent a busy day in Stafford yesterday talking to shoppers, businesses and residents.
Mr Ellis held ‘Let’s Talk’ supermarket surgeries at Asda, Queensway in Stafford between 12noon and 1pm and then at Tesco on Newport Road, Stafford, from 1.30pm to 2.30pm.
He held an open meeting at County Buildings, Martin Street, Stafford between 6pm and 7pm.
The events were the latest opportunity for people to tell Mr Ellis first-hand about crime and local policing and their experience of the criminal justice system. People were invited to come along to discuss any concerns they have about crime, policing and community safety with Mr Ellis – no appointment is needed.
Mr Ellis said: “It was a brilliant engagement day in Stafford. I’d like to say a big ‘thanks’ to Asda and Tesco for allowing us to hold supermarket surgeries.
“There were multi-agency meetings which helped us really understand the challenges of joining services together and an excellent public meeting in the evening which I thoroughly enjoyed.”
The Commissioner also visited two Stone companies to hear about their experiences of being victims of crime – and the measures they have subsequently taken to improve security. A new strategy – called Business Crime Matters – is being developed by deputy PCC Sue Arnold to make sure businesses get the support they need.
