Police and Crime Commissioner for Staffordshire, Matthew Ellis recently spoke to over 35 members of Action Parkside about policing in Staffordshire at their Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Mr Ellis talked with members during their meeting at Parkside Primary School about policing in their area, the use of Body-cams and Mental Health. He also provided an update on the successful roll-out of mobile technology devices which will help to free up 250,000 hours of visible, front-line policing a year.
Local Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Emma Fry also attended the meeting and was able to show members the Body-Cams that are used by officers and update them on issues within the local community including speeding along the main roads and cars congregating in public areas. PCSO Fry advised members of Action Parkside that patrols had been increased in the area and advisory letters had been sent to owners of vehicles that have displayed anti-social behaviour.
Mr Ellis said: “I would like to thank Action Parkside for their warm welcome and for having me as their guest speaker, the reception they gave me was fantastic. It was great to see PCSO Emma Fry at the AGM and hear from her about the local community. I was pleased to find out that the residents of Parkside see their local PCSO out and about and are appreciative of the work she does in the community.”
Gerald D’Arcy, Chairman of Action Parkside, said: “When Matthew Ellis spoke at the AGM of Action Parkside, he was well received by a receptive audience. He provided information which was thought-provoking allowing people to consider issues with which they would not normally be concerned. The committee of the residents group thanked Mr. Ellis for his attendance.”
Mobile technology has been rolled out across the county in a bid to increase the amount of time officers are able to spend in the local community. All officers, PCSOs and Specials have been equipped with new smartphone and tablet devices giving them access to the information and tools they need.
