Matthew Ellis, Staffordshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, updated town councillors in Stone about ongoing work to free up police officer time when he was a special guest at their latest meeting. 
The Commissioner was invited to speak at the meeting at the council’s chambers in Station Road, Stone, on Thursday, 2 October.
Mr Ellis outlined the progress made in the first 18 months of his role along with the challenges and opportunities facing policing and the criminal justice system across Staffordshire.
He said: “It was good to discuss policing, safety and criminal justice issues with councillors from Stone and the surrounding area.
“Over the last 18 months what we have been doing is setting down the foundations for real change.
“As we look to make significant savings by doing things differently, my goals going forward are to maintain neighbourhood police officer numbers and free up thousands of hours of police time through vast improvements in technology.”
