PCC outlines progress in Pattingham

Matthew Ellis, Staffordshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, spoke about the improvements being made to local policing whenPCC Matthew Ellis at Pattingham public meeting he met people in Patting on Wednesday night.

Mr Ellis discussed the progress made in the first 18 months of his role and the challenges ahead when he was invited by Pattingham and Patshull Parish Council to the public meeting at the village hall.

He talked about investment in technology which will free officers up to spend more time in their communities, the success of the Staffordshire Young Cadets scheme and spending money better by joining up the work of different organisations.

The ‘Let’s Talk’ event was the latest opportunity for people to tell Mr Ellis first-hand about crime and local policing and their experience of the criminal justice system.

People at the meeting raised concerns about issues including road safety and police budgets while praising the good work of local police officers in Pattingham over the last 12 months.

The Commissioner said: “It was a real pleasure to be invited to take part in a such a positive public meeting in Pattingham which I thoroughly enjoyed.

“I was happy to talk about our ongoing work to make policing more visible as well as some of the big challenges that lay ahead to keep communities safe.

“People at the meeting praised the good work being done by officers who were at the meeting, including the Community Special Constable who is embedded in the policing team as part of a new commitment to develop the skills of volunteer officers in serving their local areas.”
