Matthew Ellis, Staffordshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, spoke to around 200 people during a successful engagement day in Burton yesterday (Thurs).
He held supermarket surgeries at Asda in the Octagon Centre and Tesco in St Peters Bridge before answering questions at a public meeting at Burton Town Hall during the ‘Let’s Talk’ engagement day.
The events were the latest opportunity for people to tell Mr Ellis first-hand about crime and local policing and their experience of the criminal justice system. People were invited to come along to discuss any concerns they have about crime, policing and community safety.
The Commissioner also went to a partnership meeting where police and other agencies discussed how they were tackling local issues.
Mr Ellis said: “It was an action packed-day in Burton which finished with a thoroughly enjoyable public meeting where there was some really good debate, excellent.
“I learned a lot during the day, including things that I need to look at further, and I met lots and lots of local people which was great.”
