Mr Ellis spent two hours speaking with shoppers at the Ankerside Shopping Centre in Tamworth, between 12pm and 1.15pm, and Sainsbury’s near Ventura Park, between 4.30pm and 5.30pm, on Thursday, 27 March. The final event took place at Landau Forte Academy on Ashby Road between 6 and 7pm, where Mr Ellis was joined by Tamworth Borough Council Leader Daniel Cook, to speak with members of the public about policing and community safety in the area.

The ‘Let’s Talk’ events are the latest opportunity for people to tell Mr Ellis first-hand about crime and local policing and their experience of the criminal justice system.

Mr Ellis said: “These engagements events have proved really popular with people across Staffordshire.

“It was a great opportunity to find out what people in Tamworth have to say about their experiences of policing and the criminal justice system where they live.

“The number of people who could only sing the praises of Tamworth’s police force was remarkable, but there’s always room for improvement.”

The meetings followed similar successful Let’s Talk events in places including the Staffordshire Moorlands, Rugeley, Burton, Cannock, Stone and Stoke-on-Trent in recent months.

Such events are just one element of engagement days held throughout Staffordshire by the Commissioner. To help spread the message of the PCC, Mr Ellis speaks with as many members of the public, local groups and local authorities as possible during the day.
