PCC updates Women’s Institute on policing in Staffordshire

PCC Matthew Ellis speaking with Church Leigh WIStaffordshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Matthew Ellis spoke about work to get police officers back on the streets during a Women’s Institute (WI) meeting in Church Leigh this week (Tuesday, 12 May).

Mr Ellis spoke to over 30 members about the work he has been doing since he took on the role, including the roll-out-of mobile technology devices to free up an extra 250,000 hours of officer time on the beat a year. He then answered questions from members.

The Commissioner said: “I would like to thank Church Leigh and District WI for inviting me to be their guest speaker.

“It was great to meet so many enthusiastic members and listen to their views about policing in Church Leigh and the surrounding areas. There was a good turnout and some great questions which I really enjoyed.”

Julie Thompson Edwards, President of Church Leigh and District WI, said: “We invited the Police and Crime Commissioner to talk about what his job involves and how policing works in Staffordshire.

“We really enjoyed the talk from Matthew Ellis and would like to thank him for attending.”
