Staffordshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Matthew Ellis spoke to Maer and District Women’s Institute (WI) about policing in Staffordshire this week.
Mr Ellis spoke to members of the WI and some of the public at the open meeting in Whitmore. He spoke about the work he has been doing since he took on the role, including the progress on mental health, the Ethics, Transparency and Audit Panel and the recent roll-out of mobile technology devices. He then answered questions from members.
Mr Ellis said: “I’d like to thank Maer and District WI for inviting me to be their guest speaker and for the warm welcome.
“I had an enjoyable talk and answered many excellent questions about the work being done to support victims and how new mobile technology will see police officers back in communities.”
Irene Slater, president of Maer and District WI, said: “We had an extremely interesting evening and we didn’t realise just how much work Mr Ellis does in Staffordshire.
“He is doing a great job and we would like to thank him for sparing the time to attend our meeting and talk to us.”
