Matthew Ellis, Staffordshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, attended a youth advisory council meeting in Biddulph last Tuesday, 17 March.
The meeting was attended by pupils from a number of schools in the area, police staff and Biddulph Councillor Ken Harper.
The Commissioner discussed his role with the young people and told them about the new technology due to roll out across the force and his ideas to bring back a version of the SPACE scheme and then took questions.
Mr Ellis said: “It’s crucial to develop a good relationship with young people so we can understand their point of view of what a sense of being safer and having an effective criminal justice system is like.
“I was asked a number of excellent questions from the young people and got their views on police in the area and what they thought of bringing back a version of the SPACE scheme.”
Biddulph Police Community Support Officer Steve Sherratt said: “It was great that the Police and Crime Commissioner came to the meeting. They enjoyed speaking with Mr Ellis and were grateful for him to take the time to come and talk to them. They really enjoyed it and would welcome him back anytime.”
