Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Ellis attended a Stoke-on-Trent Area Network for Disability (STAND) meeting on Tuesday, 10 February.
The meeting was held to discuss people parking on pavements who are forcing people with a disability or with pushchairs to have to walk in the road.
Matthew spoke with local residents with parking issues and members of STAND.
STAND is an organisation which helps to make life better for disabled people and works to improve access to goods and services for people with disabilities.
Mr Ellis said: “Parking is something which is on my agenda to tackle. I want to try and re-patriate the powers to PCSOs but issues with parking needs to be tackled across agencies and not left for Police to tackle on their own.
“The STAND meeting was very informative and a number of issues were raised. There is no over-night solution with solving the problem but there are things which can be done to prevent it from happening, and the force have agreed to work with my office on this.”
