Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Ellis attended the annual dinner for The Stone Association for the Prosecution of Felons last week
Over 100 people attended the dinner at the Stone House Hotel to listen to Mr Ellis and Retired District Judge Richard Stevens OBE speak about their experience of policing and the criminal justice system in Staffordshire.
The Association was formed in the days before there was any organized policing. Its purpose was to provide rewards for information leading to the conviction of felons and to fund their prosecution. The Association became dormant in the mid 1830’s once organized policing for the area was underway and was re-established in November 2007. Its purpose today is to act as an annual forum where people from all walks of life can meet, socialize and network for the betterment of the town of Stone.
Mr Ellis said: “It was a privilege to speak at The Stone Association for the Prosecution of Felons annual dinner. It was a really enjoyable evening and a great opportunity to talk about the role and work of the Police and Crime Commissioner.
“It was great to see so many familiar faces at this very friendly and convivial evening in the company of members who are passionate about the future of Stone.”
The Association’s Founder President, Ian Moxon said: “The Commissioner gave a very well-received address in which he spoke about the PCC role. He also talked about the progress which has been made in Staffordshire and what he is hoping to achieve in the future. It was encouraging to hear of such good progress and I look forward to hearing more over the coming years.”
