PCC praises police drugs crackdown

PCC Matthew Ellis on a drug raidMatthew Ellis, Staffordshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, has praised today’s police crackdown on drug supply in Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire.

Mr Ellis accompanied officers from Staffordshire Police – who were supported by National Crime Agency officers – on the early morning Operation Nemesis raids.

The Commissioner said: “Drugs blight communities and it’s crucial that the police keep digging away at all levels of drug enforcement, including at the lowest level.

“This is the second Nemesis operation I’ve accompanied and I was once again impressed with the amount of detailed preparation and co-ordination that goes into making such large-scale arrests.

“The involvement of the National Crime Agency shows how local specialist knowledge combined with national resources and expertise can fight serious crime.

“It’s really important that the message gets out there that drug dealing is illegal, it’s unacceptable and it ruins communities.”
