Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Ellis was invited to speak at a busy meeting of a new Stafford-based community group on Friday (11 July).

Mr Ellis was joined by the Member of Parliament for Stafford Jeremy Lefroy, Stafford Borough Councillor Bryan Cross, Borough Council candidate Jonathan Price and Police Inspector Giles Parsons, at Holmcroft Matters’ first community event at the North End Community Centre.
Speaking first about cancelling planned-cuts to local policing, improvements in road safety and changes in how the police deal with mental health crises, Mr Ellis then took questions off the 30 residents in attendance.
The event was the latest opportunity for people to tell Mr Ellis first-hand about crime and local policing and their experience of the criminal justice system. People were invited to come along to discuss any concerns they have about crime, policing and community safety with Mr Ellis.
Mr Ellis said: “This was a great opportunity to find out what people in Holmcroft had to say.
“Overall, the residents in Holmcroft are very happy with the service they receive from the police, which is positive news. There were a few operational-queries raised that I was able to pass on to the police so that they can be resolved.
“These events give local people a chance to shape the future of policing and the criminal justice services for us all.”
Friday’s meeting follows a busy day in Stafford for Mr Ellis last Wednesday (10 July) when he visited businesses, supermarkets and hosted a public meeting in the town.
