Let’s Talk success in Cannock

Staffordshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Ellis spent time with shoppers, school pupils and an offender during a busy day in Cannock yesterday, Tuesday 12 November.

Mr Ellis spoke to shoppers at Morrisons in Mill Street and members of the public at a special meeting at The Premier Suite in High Green in the evening.

As part of the ‘Let’s Talk – Coming To You’ event, The Commissioner also saw the work of the Safer Schools Partnership at Cannock Chase High, met a man whose life is being turned round by the Integrated Offender Management scheme and heard about an initiative that is building stronger families in Cannock.

Mr Ellis said: “It was a brilliant day in Cannock yesterday. I visited a school and a hub where services work together and I went to see an offender who told me how they he has moved away from crime because of the intervention of police and others.

“In the middle of the day, we had a really good hour at Morrisons where I spoke with loads of people and the great thing was that they were telling me what we’re doing rather than me having to tell them.

“I talked all day about how I can use my role to join services better together to be more effective. My time in Cannock gave me a really useful understanding of how I can help people to do even more of this.”
