PCC welcomes National Crime Agency (@NCA_UK) support for raids

NCA in StaffordshirePolice and Crime Commissioner for Staffordshire Matthew Ellis has today welcomed support from the new National Crime Agency (NCA).

The national body, launched this week to tackle the most serious and organised crime, has today assisted a Staffordshire investigation in a series of dawn raids. Officers from The National Crime Agency (NCA) joined with colleagues from Staffordshire and West Midlands in a series of dawn raids which saw seven people arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery and other serious offences.

Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Ellis said:

“Today’s operation has seen how local specialist knowledge combined with national resources and expertise can fight serious crime.

“The policing landscape is changing and in Staffordshire today we can see how this new national approach to tackling serious and organised crime can benefit the police and the public in our county.

“The support of the NCA will be invaluable to Staffordshire in the future as we all work to keep people safe.

“It is only by working jointly with other organisations that we can make a real and sustained difference to reducing crime, whether it be low level or the most serious organised crime.”

The NCA is the first national agency to tackle a full range of serious and organised crime at home and has a wider remit than any other agency before including cyber-crime, child exploitation, drugs and economic crime.
