Commissioner congratulates county’s Fire and Rescue Service

STAFFORDSHIRE Commissioner Matthew Ellis has paid tribute to Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service after they were named Emergency Service of the Year.

The service was awarded the honour at the 5th Excellence in Fire and Emergency Awards.

It was bestowed to the service that had demonstrated a significant difference to fire and emergency performance.

Mr Ellis, the Staffordshire Commissioner for Police, Fire and Rescue and Crime said: ‘What a tremendous endorsement for the work of firefighters, on-call firefighters, support staff and everyone involved in delivering an excellent service to communities across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

‘This recognition is well deserved for Staffordshire’s Fire and Rescue Service.

‘As we approach the festive season we owe a huge debt of gratitude to all our emergency services.’

Each award nominee was judged on several criteria, including being able to demonstrate the following: a reduction in deaths and injuries, improved emergency response, excellent in operational response and significant advancements in improving the lives of the community.

The award is open to any fire or Emergency service.
