Police appeal tribunal to be held in Stafford

A police appeal tribunal will be held in Stafford next week for two officers from Staffordshire Police, who were previously found guilty of misconduct following the death of Adrian McDonald.

Inspector Richard Bills (now retired) and Sergeant Jason Bromley are appealing against a finding of misconduct last September.

Mr McDonald, who was 34, died after he was arrested in Newcastle-under-Lyme in December 2014.

The tribunal will be held at Tillington Hall Hotel, Eccleshall Road, Stafford, on Monday April 16 at 10am. It is anticipated to last two days.

Any member of the public or press wishing to attend may do so, but due to limits on space please contact david.morris@staffordshire.pcc.pnn.gov.uk at the Police and Crime Commissioner’s office at the earliest opportunity.

Notes to editors

1 Tribunals hear appeals against the findings of police misconduct panels and special case hearing where misconduct and gross misconduct have been brought against police officers or special constables. Appeals by police officers are referred to the relevant Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, which organises the tribunal independently.

2 If the Chair decides that the evidence to be given by a witness or any other person should not be disclosed in public, an explanation will be given and the public will be excused whilst they give the evidence.

3 We request members of the public should arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the commencement of proceedings to allow time to be signed in.

4 Mobile phones and other recording devices must be switched off. The taking of pictures is forbidden within the hearing room.

5 All members of the public will be required to produce photographic ID to the OPCC prior to admission to the hearing.
