Independent Custody Visitors
Overview
Benefits- Carry out custody visits to check on the conditions in which a detainee is kept, their health and wellbeing and their legal rights and entitlements
- Discuss with the custody officer any concerns and requests arising from the custody visit
- Highlight to Custody Officers any concerns, requests or issues that needs to be dealt with
- Complete and distribute a report form after each visit

Required attendance
- 6 – 8 visits per year, which last for approximately 1-2 hours
- Additional quarterly team review meetings and training
