Topics to be discussed by Staffordshire Commissioner Ben Adams and Chief Constable Chris Noble at a public meeting on Tuesday (21 January) will include Staffordshire Police’s new Road Crime Team, contact and the ongoing investigation after last summer’s disorder.
During the Police Public Performance Meeting, which will be broadcast live online from 10am, the Commissioner will ask the Chief Constable about the progress Staffordshire Police is making in its ambition to become an outstanding local Police force once again.
Topics discussed at the meeting will include:
- Staffordshire Police’s proactive approach, which has seen arrests increase by 13%, (+1,946) and stop and searches by 17% (945) in the last 12 months
- Improvements in contact, with the vast majority of 999 calls answered in less than 10 seconds
- The investigation into the violent disorder in Stoke-on-Trent and Tamworth last summer, which has so far resulted in 200 arrests
- The new Road Crime Team, which since its formation last October has arrested 211 people suspected of driving offences and seized more than 450 vehicles and criminal assets worth in excess of £1.7 million
Staffordshire Commissioner for Police, Fire & Rescue and Crime Ben Adams said: “Part of my role as Commissioner is to monitor the force’s performance on behalf of the communities of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. I am also responsible for setting the force’s budget, and during the meeting will be discussing the impact of government funding and my recent council tax precept consultation.
“I would encourage anyone wanting to hear more about the work the force is doing to follow Tuesday’s meeting, which will be live-streamed online and available to watch in full afterwards.”
