Stafford Space activity hits the mark

The gloves were on at a boxing session in Stafford which proved a big hit with young people as part of Space 2021.

Staffordshire Commissioner for Police, Fire & Rescue and Crime, Ben Adams dropped into a Right Stuff boxing session to get his first experience of the summer Space programme since being named Commissioner in May 2021.

During the session he saw groups of young people put through their paces in a fun environment as part of the five weeks of Space 2021.

The summer programme, which runs from 26 July to 27 August, brings together public, voluntary and private sector organisations to provide support for potentially vulnerable young people to help increase skills, improve health and wellbeing and create opportunities with an additional aim of reducing levels of anti-social behaviour.

Staffordshire Commissioner for Police, Fire & Rescue and Crime, Ben Adams said: ‘The passion and commitment shown by the young people at the Right Stuff Boxing session was fantastic to see. After an extremely difficult 18 months it was wonderful they were getting active and enjoying themselves in such a healthy, positive way.

‘These activities are all about providing an opportunity for Staffordshire Police and partners to engage with young people who may be going through a difficult time to help nurture, support and develop them.’

Details of activities including how to book and guidance around Covid-19 are available on the Space website, www.staffordshirespace.uk.
