A Staffordshire Police Cadet has swapped her cadet uniform for a leader’s uniform two years after she enrolled.
Holly Carter has been a member of the Stafford cadets since the age of 16 and as soon as she turned 18 was asked to become a cadet leader. She has now enrolled as a Police Support Volunteer so she can carry out her new duties.
Introducing the Cadet scheme was a commitment made by Staffordshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Ellis. It aims to strengthen links between the police and young people and promote good citizenship.
Mrs Arnold, Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner said: “It’s tremendous to hear about Holly’s achievement and it shows how the cadet scheme has changed the lives of many young people and given them skills to use now and in the future.”
Holly said: “Moving from a cadet to a leader gives me an opportunity to demonstrate responsibility and offers personal development. I can work with other leaders as a team but also contribute to the wider cadet team.
“I can use my experience as a cadet and offer opinions on new activities. Most of all, I hope it will increase my confidence and skills supporting my path towards my chosen career in the police force.”
Businesses are invited to become Patrons and Sponsors to fund the Cadets Service. In return for becoming a Patron, businesses’ contributions are recognised through publicity, a framed certificate and other opportunities. For more details visit www.staffordshire-pcc.gov.uk/police-cadets.
