Staffordshire Commissioner to review Police performance at public meeting

Topics to be discussed by Staffordshire Commissioner Ben Adams and Acting Chief Constable Becky Riggs at a public meeting on Thursday (20 November) will include the impact of targeted hot spot policing patrols and an update on the latest child protection inspection.

During the Police Public Performance Meeting, which will be broadcast live online from 2pm, the Commissioner will ask the Acting Chief Constable about the progress Staffordshire Police is making in its ambition to become an outstanding local Police force once again.

Topics discussed at the meeting will include:

  • The latest child protection inspection from His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS)
  • A reduction in reports of some crime types, including a 13% drop in neighbourhood crime and a 24% reduction in home burglaries
  • The impact of hot spot patrols in 19 areas of the county, during which at least 90 people have been arrested by officers since the initiative began in May 2025
  • The launch of a new community engagement strategy to drive increased confidence through enhanced support for victims and improved investigations

Staffordshire Commissioner for Police, Fire & Rescue and Crime Ben Adams said: “Part of my role as Commissioner is to monitor the force’s performance on behalf of the communities of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

“I would encourage anyone wanting to hear more about the work the force is doing to follow Thursday’s meeting, which will be live streamed online and available to watch in full afterwards.”

The Police Public Performance Meeting will be live streamed online from 2pm on Thursday 20 November, and will also be available to view afterwards.
