Staffordshire Commissioner to review Fire & Rescue performance at public meeting

Topics to be discussed by Staffordshire Commissioner Ben Adams and Chief Fire Officer Rob Barber at a public meeting on Tuesday (20 May) will include Fire & Rescue Service values and culture, ongoing work to support the NHS and the impact of new sustainable energy systems.

The Fire Public Performance Meeting will be broadcast live online from 10am.

Staffordshire Commissioner for Police, Fire & Rescue and Crime Ben Adams said: “These meetings are an opportunity for the people of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent to hear directly from their Chief Fire Officer about the work underway to keep us all safe.

“I’ll be asking him about what the Service is doing to ensure it can continue to meet today’s evolving challenges, such as those presented by new battery and energy storage systems, as well as the preventative partnership work to protect the most vulnerable in our communities.”

The meeting will include:

  • An update on the Service’s effectiveness and efficiency, including the number of fires and other incidents attended, response times and availability, and the range of prevention and education initiatives to keep our communities safe
  • The work the Service is doing with local authority planning departments to minimise any risks associated with new grid scale Battery Energy Storage Systems, a fundamental part of the UK’s move towards more sustainable energy
  • The ongoing success of the Service’s Falls Response and Home from Hospital teams, which work closely with the NHS to support vulnerable people

The Fire Public Performance Meeting will be streamed live, and will also be available to view online afterwards. Find out more and watch the full meeting.
