The work underway by Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service to deliver Staffordshire Commissioner Ben Adams’ Fire & Rescue Plan will be discussed at a Public Performance Meeting, taking place on Wednesday 18 May.
At the meeting, which will be broadcast live online from 12.30pm, the Commissioner will hold Chief Fire Officer Rob Barber to account on behalf of the public, covering a range of topics including:
- The service’s transformation programme, which aligns to the Commissioner’s key priorities of delivering a modern, flexible and responsive Fire & Rescue service
- Ongoing work to protect people and places, through activities such as the Community Sprinkler Project, high-rise buildings inspection programme and ‘safe and well’ visits to those most at risk from fire
- How the service is adapting to deal with emerging issues such as the fire risk from illegal waste sites, and the challenges of alternative fuel systems when dealing with vehicle fires
- The continued work of the service in delivering Covid vaccines to schools, and anti-viral medication to the most vulnerable
Staffordshire’s Police, Fire & Rescue and Crime Commissioner, Ben Adams said: “My Fire & Rescue Plan, published in December, set out priorities and service expectations on behalf of Staffordshire residents. These include a flexible and responsive service, protecting people and places, helping people most at risk stay safe and ensuring we have a Fire & Rescue service fit for tomorrow.
“At this meeting, people will have the chance to hear directly from their Chief Fire Officer about the progress made so far to deliver the Plan, ensuring they are better informed and involved, and can have confidence in the quality of the service provided.”
The Public Performance Meeting will be streamed live, and will also be available to view online afterwards.
